BOYNTON BEACH – Two men, armed with high-powered semi-automatic rifles, barged into a home late Saturday, opened fire and gunned down two sisters with two young children nearby, police said.
Janice Rahming 54, and Daphne Clemons, 41, were pronounced dead at the scene in the 1600 block of Northeast Second Court. The shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. Rahming was visiting her sister Clemons.
A third woman, who was across the street, was shot in the leg and treated at a local hospital.
The two children were in another room during the shooting were not injured. Both are now with relatives.
Police say the women were not the intended targets.
“This was a senseless, horrific shooting of innocent people,” police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said in a release.
