By Online staff

A Delray Beach man and another from Boynton Beach are among six residents arrested and charged after federal prosecutors said they received more than $10,000 each in unemployment compensation benefit payments to which they weren’t entitled.

Authorities charged Steven Rice, 39, of Delray Beach and Robert H. Phaneuf III, 32, of Boynton Beach with mail and wire fraud. Also charged were Seth Bergen, 53, of Boca Raton; Anne Marie Castroverde-Menendez, 50, of Hollywood; Joseph Hardardt, 50, Lake Worth and Andre Huggins, 46, of West Palm Beach.

According to six separate indictments, the defendants made fraudulent claims on the Internet or telephone claiming they were entitled to unemployment compensation benefits, and they directed the money to be sent to them either by mail or electronically transferred to their accounts.

All defendants appeared before a federal judge in West Palm Beach and were released on $10,000 bond.
