Tri-Rail, Car Crash Kills 1 Near Delray Station

DELRAY BEACH – One person was killed when a Tri-Rail train struck a car near the Delray Beach station, the Delray Beach Tribune has learned.

The crash happened around 7:39 a.m. just south of the station. No passengers on the train were injured, according to the Delray Beach Police Department.

The train was able to stop near SW 10th Street. The car was wedged under the front of the train.

Roads are closed at the Linton Boulevard and SW 10th Street crossings as well as the southbound I-95 exit ramp to Delray Beach.

Police said those areas will be closed for several hours, and are urging drivers to find alternate routes for their morning commutes.
