DELRAY BEACH – The new business partnership between S.D. Spady Elementary School and the owner of XF Martial Arts Sensei Vince Cohen gives him an opportunity to commit his talents and create a program for fourth- and fifth-grade students that are in need of self-esteem empowerment.
Each Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., a selected group of students meet with Sensei Cohen for a 45-minute class that incorporates physical fitness, self-defense and good old fashioned conversation and caring.
Eight students, identified by their teachers, are participating in the program for the next eight weeks. The goal is to help students recognize the value of self-empowerment. It is the wish of S.D. Spady Elementary and XF Martial Arts that the program will expand to other schools in the county.
