BSO Detective Suspended After Drug Arrest

By Staff Reports

OAKLAND PARK —A Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been suspended after he was arrested on a drug charge Friday.

Detective John Brindle was arrested on one count of possession of a controlled substance, Broward Sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators conducted surveillance of Brindle and said he bought oxycodone pills without a prescription Friday in Oakland Park.

Authorities said he used intimidation and his position as a BSO detective to buy the pills.

Brindle has been employed with the department since April 2005. He previously worked for the department from 1997 to 2004.

Brindle is suspended with pay pending prosecution by the state attorney’s office.
