The public is invited to a Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s, 1155 East Atlantic Ave., on Tuesday, April 9, from 12 noon to 8 p.m.

Celebrity Scoopers will include Vice-Mayor Al Jacquet and former mayors David Schmidt (2000-2003) and Jeff Perlman (2003 – 2007). Several items, including an autographed Ben & Jerry’s T-Shirt and a $100 gift certificate to In The Grove Salon Hair Studio, will be raffled. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet Brandon Flowers, defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs and receive an autographed photo.

All donations received will support the City’s “Curb Appeal by the Block” program, scheduled for Saturday, April 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

About 250 energetic volunteers will pressure wash and paint the exterior of nine homes in the northwest section, east of I-95. They will also erect mailboxes and do minor landscaping.

Formerly called Paint-Up Delray, the program, in its 18th year, begins at 7:30 a.m.

It is modeled after the popular home improvement national television show where they transform homes and streets

The event is coordinated by the City of Delray Beach Community Improvement Department.
