A man police said drove his SUV into a pond at Lynn University Tuesday evening, ran and was later found, is missing again.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday issued a release asking for the public’s help in locating Jason Elk.
Elk, 19, drove a Mercedes SUV into the body of water in front of the WOLD Performing Arts Center, site of the 2012 Presidential Debate, police said.
Witnesses told police they saw a man leave through the sunroof and ran south on campus.
A Boca Raton Police Department dive team towed the car out of the lake. Police found Elk’s wallet and cell phone in the car.
He was later found.
Authorities said Elk apparently fled a mental health facility and is again missing. While he is not considered to be a danger to the public, he may be a danger to himself.
He was last seen in the area of Polo Club at the Boca/Delray line on Military Trail.
He is 5’8” and was last seen wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt and no shoes.
Anyone with information about Elk’s whereabouts is asked to their local police agency or PBSO at 561-688-3400.
